Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) Program
At Blueprint Counseling, we are proud to offer Randolph County’s only community-based PSB program. Designed for children and youth (typically ages 7–12) who have engaged in problematic sexual behavior, our approach is grounded in research, shaped by compassion, and tailored to support both the individual and the entire family system.
Our program is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and backed by partnerships with legal systems, DSS, schools, and caregivers across North Carolina. PSB can be a heavy topic—but healing begins with facts, not fear.
This is not who they are. It’s what they’ve done. And we believe in what comes next.

Does PSB Therapy Work? The Data Says Yes.
The PSB-CBT (Problematic Sexual Behavior – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) model is a nationally recognized, evidence-based intervention shown to be highly effective in reducing future incidents of harmful sexual behavior.
-
Recidivism Rates for youth who complete a PSB program are less than 2%, compared to much higher rates in youth without intervention.
-
Studies show that PSB treatment does not increase shame; in fact, it improves emotional regulation, empathy, and healthy decision-making.
-
Family participation increases positive outcomes—families who engage in treatment often report better communication, reduced stress, and improved parenting confidence.
We don’t “watch and wait.” We intervene early, we intervene skillfully, and the outcomes speak for themselves.
What Does the Program Look Like?
This is not boot camp. This is not punishment. This is not a registry.
Instead, the PSB program includes:
-
Individual Therapy for the child or youth
-
Caregiver Sessions to equip and support parents
-
Safety Planning that is practical and empowering
-
Skills-Building for empathy, boundaries, and coping
-
Family Therapy when appropriate
-
Multi-system collaboration (DSS, legal, school, etc.)
-
Specialized clinical supervision from trained PSB providers
Sessions are typically weekly and run over the course of several months depending on the needs and age of the child.
Why It Matters for Families & Communities
Problematic sexual behavior doesn’t just affect one person—it affects everyone around them. This program helps families:
-
Understand the behavior without panic or stigma
-
Restore safety in the home and community
-
Prevent escalation into the legal system
-
Reconnect with children who may be struggling silently
-
Navigate systems (DSS, schools, court) with a clear plan
This is about more than therapy—it’s about intervening before things spiral, and building a blueprint for better outcomes.
Why Is Blueprint’s PSB Program Different?
There are other counseling agencies in North Carolina—but few offer PSB services. Here’s what sets us apart:
-
Randolph-based: Accessible care, close to home. We are flexible- We offer virtual sessions as well.
-
Specialized PSB Training: Our clinicians have received advanced training and supervision in the national PSB-CBT model
-
System-Aware: We speak DSS, court, and school fluently—and we help families navigate it
-
We don’t shame. We skill-build. Our approach is strength-based and practical
-
Confidential and Professional: We treat each family with dignity and discretion
